September 2010 Assignment
It's September now, just a few more days until Labor Day. I haven't posted any assignments for awhile so thought I would start up again. Good luck!
---- SEPTEMBER EXERCISE ----
You wake up one day and find that you aren't in your own bed or even in your own house. You don't recognize the place and can't remember how you got there. When you leave the building, you find youself in an unfamiliar place. Perhaps you went through a time warp and ended up in a different time or you were abducted and taken far away from your native land. Tell us your story.

Where to Walk, OMG!
It seems to me that every day I see more and more people walking and running in the street instead of the sidewalk. Is there something wrong with the sidewalk? I always thought streets were for motor vehicles. It's annoying when a car has to drive around a jogger because they felt the sidewalk wasn't good enough for them.
Anyway, your goal for today, should you decide to do it, is to craft a well-written short story about a world that has no sidewalks. People walking their dogs, taking their kids out for a stroll, riding bikes, and jogging all need to share the road with cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Will this lead to more accidents or will the characters in your world learn to be more careful?
Have fun!

Exercise: Pet Peeves
A pet peeve is defined as a minor annoyance that can instill extreme frustration in an individual. An average person has several pet peeves that can aggravate him or her more than others. I would classify myself as above average when it comes to pet peeves. When asked what bothers me, I just shrug and say it's better to ask what doesn't bother me. Hence, I am a very difficult person to live with. :-)
Your assignment is to pick one of your biggest pet peeves and write about it. Fictionalize it, if you must. Give your pet peeve to your character and show us how he would handle it.

Exercise: Honor Thy Neighbor (Or Not!)
It seems that almost everyone will have some sort of confrontation or altercation with a neighbor at one point or another in their life. For this exercise, I want you to use that altercation and blow it way out of proportion. Get even with the neighbor that has house parties way into the night, the idiot that takes up all the parking on the street, the rude person that lets his dog bark constantly, the creep that is always treading on your grass but won't allow anyone to step foot on his, or the crazy builder that is outside your window pounding night and day. This town isn't big enough for the two of you, so show us what you would do to people that are inconsiderate of the neighbors around them. Give it your best shot!
